Coagulation

Coagulation makes it possible to remove emulsified pollution from the water. To this end, coagulation turns small emulsified particles into larger suspended solids.

Marel Water Treatment provides various coagulation systems:

  • Chemical coagulation
This reduces the distance in which the repulsive force between the emulsified particles collapses. The emulsion is completely disintegrated when the repulsive force at any distance from the individual particle is smaller than the attractive force.
  • Marel’s LOCO®
LOCO: LOw running COsts – process, this is a revolutionary new way to disintegrate protein emulsions. It is successfully applied in the dairy industry.
  • Isoelectric-point-coagulation
This process reduces the repulsion between particles by neutralising electronegative proteins.
