Denitrification is a process that converts nitrate to gaseous nitrogen. This process is also referred to as “removal of nutrients”. The advantage of denitrification is that less oxygen is needed for the digestion of organic compounds in the aeration basin.
AQUA Industrial Watertreatment offers two methods of denitrification:
With simultaneous denitrification, the aeration in the aeration tank will be interrupted to allow the denitrification process to take place. Only a single combined tank is needed.
For parallel denitrification, the water first enters a separate denitrification basin before it flows into the aeration basin. The advantage of this system with 2 basins is that continuous discharge is possible and the highest possible reduction of nitrogen can be achieved.
